MOONLIGHT HIKE,
HIGHMOOR
A moonlight hike is a must for those who want to add a new dimension to their hike.
This a special outing and is not done regularly. It normally takes place at Highmoor in the Drakensberg and as near to the full moon phase as possible. The use of torches on the hike is not encouraged. Expect a 3 – 4 hour hike. For many the climax is at the halfway point where hikers are encouraged to find there own space and observe a half hour of silence!
Only off grid camping is available.
Cannibal Cave Hike, near Clarence, FS
Cannibal Cave is situated near Clarence in the Free State, approximately four hours drive from Pietermaritzburg. The journey up offers a spectacular trip via Golden Gates.
This is a slack packing outing. Only snacks and drinks for the five hour hike on the first day have to be carried.
 The first night is spent on a farm with dormitory style accommodation.Â
The second night is spent in the cave which has matrasses and an ablution block. All food and additional provisions are transported to the cave. A four hour hike on the third and last day.
