Hike Leader: Margret Kirsten
Report by Morgan Naidoo

Ten hikers booked for the three day hike and only nine arrived. The directions provided to the Zulu Falls lodge were very explicit. The signboard to the entrance of the lodge was a bit faded and concealed.

Brian, Sandy, Merle and Morgan were the first to arrive at the Lodge. We walked around the Lodge which had beautiful views of the falls and hills with a well maintained garden and pool. The Chalets were neat and clean and of an acceptable standard. The allocation of accommodation was done for all hikers who checked in by Margret and were advised of the afternoon walk.

The afternoon walk was from the Lodge to View Point and back which was done by all hikers.

We had warm weather and the hike was done by a jovial group of hikers who supported each other.

Upon return to the Lodge, the hikers used the pool to cool off and also enjoyed a few games of table tennis in the lapha.

The next morning (day 2) all hikers set out on a hike to the top of the falls which had breathtaking views.Upon return to the Lodge the hikers used the pool to relax, cool off, have lunch and get ready for the afternoon hike.

Whilst on the afternoon hike we spotted giraffes, zebras and wildebeest.

We had a braai in the evening with beautiful weather once again. Around the table the hikers shared their hiking experiences with each other. It was a fantastic evening where everybody let their hair down and got to know more about each other.

Our hike on day three started at 08h00. The hike was to another view point and back to the lodge. Once again we were blessed with good weather. The giraffe, zebra and wildebeest were spotted again. Upon arrival from the hike, we relaxed, used the pool and had lunch before setting off for home.

We travelled back home in a convoy led by Debbie and Penny.

It was a fantastic and adventurous three days of hiking. A big thank you to Margret for organising and leading the hike with a super team of hikers.
