What do 12 fit, not so young hiking friends, full of experience, average age 68, do for fun? A 5 day hiking trail in a remote area, of course! Este Shearer, new to MHC, had done this trail in the remote N.E.Cape and wanted her hiking friends in the MHC to enjoy it too. It exceeded all expectations. It was a wonderful slackpacking trail – marvellous scenery with mountains and green valleys, river pools to cool off, fascinating sandstone rock formations, rich farmland, Bushman paintings, intriguing caves to sleep in, friendly farming folk to guide us, delicious food prepared for us, a variety of hiking trails, likeable hiking friends … and more and more.
