There were 24 of us who set off from The Howick Scout Hall at 8am on Saturday, led by Nikki “Weedeater” Brighton!!
It was a hot and humid day. After a week of rain, the sunshine was lovely until it started pushing the mercury over 30!
The walk and talk demonstration was fascinating. It is quite remarkable how many wild plants are edible and have their own unique flavour, something for all occasions.
Nikki highlighted to us, the devastating effects of urbanization and climate change that is happening around us, to the waterways and wetlands in particular.
Nikki is an incredibly knowledgeable person in all plants wild and wonderful. We certainly hope to repeat this fixture again in the future, look out for it, it is not to be missed! It is a grave topic, relevant to all generations!
